A Week's Worth of Pinterest Meals!

I bounce back and forth between being an uber organized meal-planner and a fly-by-the-seat of her pants microwaver. A couple of weeks ago it felt like we'd been in a rut, scrambling to come up with last minute meals so I hit up my Invited to the Party in My Tummy board on Pinterest for inspiration. What followed was  a week of busy chopping and mixing, trying new ingredients, and chowing down! Not all of the recipes were worth the effort and there were a few I will make changes to next time. Here's what I cooked. The Winners In no particular order... Creamy Country Chicken and Vegetables So, this picture looks awful but I forgot to take a pretty picture before we SCARFED it all down. If you need a pretty picture, definitely follow the link to the recipe. I really loved this recipe; it was savory and homey. The recipe called for poultry seasoning or  sage but I chose to add both. I also had some mushrooms that needed using so I threw them in there, too. We ate it ...

Pizza Pockets

Last week we were in a cooking rut so I printed off a bunch of recipes I'd found on Pinterest and we made a big long grocery list. Then we got to cooking! We had some definite misses (steak and blue cheese roll ups and stuffed mushrooms--yuck.) but we also had some real hits. Pizza pockets were one of the hits. Then Keeleigh took some canned Pillsbury biscuits and rolled them flat using a rolling pin on a floured surface. Next we spread a little pizza sauce on the flattened biscuits... and added a couple of pepperoni slices and some shredded cheese. Then we wrapped the biscuit around the filling pinching it closed at the top. After that you brush the tops with a beaten egg and sprinkle with Parmesan, Italian seasoning and garlic powd...

Sure to leave a bad taste in your mouth...

Last week my cousin shared a link to an article from a natural health website about one "shocking fact" that you won't find on vaccine consent forms. It talked about the fact that many vaccines (polio; measles, mumps, and rubella, chickenpox and shingles; hepatitis a; and rabies) are grown in human fetal tissue which was originally obtained from abortions performed in the 60s. Our family was aware of this issue; in fact, this was one of the main reasons we chose not to continue to vaccinate our children. We are pro-life and want to live in a way that truly reflects that. The article also brought up some issues I was completely unaware of, however. Not only have companies begun to use human fetal cells in anti-aging creams but the atrocious practice has made it's way into the food industry as well. " Cells from an aborted fetus may have been used to create flavor enhancers for your soup or soft drink. Yes, you read that right. PepsiCo, Kraft Foods, and Nestle ar...
