Printable Resurrection Set

I was so excited to find a printable Resurrection set to make for the kids to explore the Easter story with. This set came from the blog,  catholicicing.com . She has all of the figures drawn and gives easy instructions for how to put your set together. Something to think about: I wish I hadn't glued our crucified Jesus to the cross because then we couldn't place him in the tomb. This morning we used our set during our Bible reading time (Some dinosaurs showed up!). Jathan and Ryland loved it! I hope that since we laminated our set it will last for several years.

Piper's First Egg Hunt

Today Piper attended her first Easter egg hunt. For the first part of it, I just toted her around while the boys hunted but then while they enjoyed their snack she got to crawl around the baby area.  She was totally  into the whole brightly colored egg thing even before she knew there was a treat inside. What's even better is that I think we've found a fun knew activity for her...inspecting eggs in the Easter basket!

Snakes and Snail and Puppy Dog Tails

Last week it rained for several days straight here. I, for one, loved it. In fact I was considering how lovely it would be to live in Seattle and always have the promise of drizzle on the windowpane. Others do not share my passion for wet weather, however, and when the sun finally came out on Friday everyone was ready to hit the playground. Unfortunately, in case you hadn't heard, we have a little flooding problem in NOLA and the playground is no exception. My friend, Melissa, had been letting Jathan play at her house with his best buddy, Jacque. She texted me and said they were headed to the playground and wanted to know if she should send Jathan up or let him play warning me that boys cannot NOT play in the mud. Of course it was okay with me if he got a little dirty, 'cause you know I'm cool like that. I grabbed my camera and headed downstairs with Ryland to let him join in the fun. When I got to the bottom floor, this is what I saw: Jathan was having a blast as I e...

Easter Around Our House

Easter is not about colored eggs or bunnies or cute little yellow chicks. But I like all those things any way. So here are some pictures from around our house of our "spring" decorating: The baker's rack... Our table... Shelf decor... The view out my balcony door... Fridge art by Ryland and Jathan... Today we did talk about the true meaning of Good Friday and Easter. Tonight and tomorrow I'm hoping to do some snack crafts thanks to a couple of ideas from our on-campus homeschool coordinator. Pictures of those to come!

Spring!

And Spring arose on the garden fair, Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere; And each flower and herb on Earth's dark breast rose from the dreams of its wintry rest. ~Percy Bysshe Shelley, "The Sensitive Plant" It's springtime in New Orleans! You can tell because the thermometer is creeping into the 80s (helloooo, flip flops!), the sunlight last until 8 o'clock, and the azaleas at the front of campus have burst into loud displays of color. The other day DeAnna made the kids' yearbook photos behind the Frost Building and I was so enthralled with the blossoms that I went home to get my camera and capture some moments with the kids wandering through the little garden. If you've never been thrilled to the very edges of your soul by a flower in spring bloom, maybe your soul has never been in bloom. ~Terri Guillemets The day the Lord created hope was probably the same day he created Spring. ~Bern Williams Someone saw me for the first time in a while the other...
