Photo Friday

Saturday, January 14, 2012 We went shopping at the outlets in Gonzales. Piper shopped til she dropped.

Sunday, January 15, 2012 We missed church because of our sickly guys. Jackie was battling an upset stomach and Ryland had a terrible cough. I just had a big mess to clean up.

Monday, January 16, 2012 Everyone was feeling better so we went shopping (again). Ryland and Piper were happy to share a seat in the grocery cart.

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 After a year of working on it, I finally finished my crocheted rug! No, it shouldn't have taken that long but I didn't *actually* know how to crochet when I started it (it got unraveled several times) and there were some interruptions along the way. You know like, Piper. ; )

Another crafting accomplishment was this hand towel for the stove. I saw this design at a flea market in Alabama and thought, "I could do that!" It was impossibly easy. I love it!

Wednesday, January 18, 2012 Piper loves bath time!

Thursday, January 19, 2012 Back to school (finally!). Turns out Jathan didn't forget all the stuff we learned last semester. Whew.

Friday, January 20, 2012 PE day! Jathan and Ryland both loved playing at PE today.

Piper enjoyed cheering them on court side!

5 Reasons I Should Stay Off Facebook

1. TMI So, I remember the weirdest things but one brief conversation I had over 10 years ago stands out to me. It was high school and like all high school girls I had friends, enemies, and frienemies. One of my then-frienemies (we've grown up since then!) was friends with one of my enemies. Standing by the lockers one day, frienemy walks up and says in reference to enemy something like, "She shares too much information. Sometimes it's almost like, 'Hey, guys. I just farted.'" Of course, at the time I ate this up and laughed at her expense but over the years it's been a little reminder that more often than not I need to shut up. Just shut up. I've often been tempted (and have too often given in to the temptation) to over share. I think the Internet feels far safer than it really is. I need to remember that. 2. Friends...or Stalkers? Speaking of "friends", I have 321 of them. I know that number is much higher for many of you, but

The Story of Us

Do you like love stories? Who doesn't! Well, as Jackie and I prepare to celebrate our 7th anniversary tomorrow I'm ruminating on ours. It had an unexpected beginning and several surprising twists some of which threw me off so badly that I'm only now beginning to see how beautifully the Master Author has written it. I know it has had to have been in His hands because I seriously couldn't make some of this stuff up. Though Jackie and I didn't meet until 2004, but I will begin our story in 1998. That year I was 15 and pregnant. I suppose everyone thinks a baby will change your life to some degree but few people understand just to what degree that is. Because of Keeleigh a lot of things were different in my life. I traded in some of my freedom as a teenager for bottles and diapers. I remember I used to leave school and tell my friends, "Well, I'm off to play house." "Don't you wish you were just playing?" a friend asked. Really? I didn

Secrets

Can I let you in on a secret? On New Year's Day I bought a little notebook and each day since I've written in it. I'm hoping I have the guts to write unabashedly dear diary style. Then I'm hoping to use this record as notes for a book I've entitled Secrets of a Seminary Wife . I'm not talkin' secrets about how to get grass stains out of your little boys' jeans. I'm talking about a tell-all story about me--warts and all. It'll be like Tammy Faye Baker gets saved on Wisteria Lane. And maybe I will slip in some secrets on how to get grass stains out because, heck, we've gotta deal with that, too. Why? Because I wish the world knew what happens here. Here at seminary. Here in the heart of a believer. That we struggle. That half the people I know are on food stamps and Medicaid working their tails off trying to do what God has called them to do. That we sin, too--we get angry, we are lustful, we lie. That sometimes the only thing that keeps us
