When It Rains...

It floods. At least in New Orleans. Seriously, anything heavier than a drizzle is sure to accumulate in the streets in no time. Sometimes this is a catastrophic bad thing. But other times this is a fun thing. Today it was really fun!

After Piper's extremely long nap time, we went outside to splash. These three kiddos thought that was awesome.

Someday we will move away from this place which my children were born to. This place where all too often crime reigns in the streets and children don't enjoy the safety that mine do. But they won't remember that. They'll remember snowballs and Mardi Gras and splashing in those glorious NOLA rains. = )

1. TMI So, I remember the weirdest things but one brief conversation I had over 10 years ago stands out to me. The Story of Us

Do you like love stories? Who doesn't! Well, as Jackie and I prepare to celebrate our 7th anniversary tomorrow I'm ruminating on ours. It had an unexpected beginning and several surprising twists some of which threw me off so badly that I'm only now beginning to see how beautifully the Master Author has written it. I know it has had to have been in His hands because I seriously couldn't make some of this stuff up. Though Jackie and I didn't meet until 2004, but I will begin our story in 1998. That year I was 15 and pregnant. I suppose everyone thinks a baby will change your life to some degree but few people understand just to what degree that is. Because of Keeleigh a lot of things were different in my life. I traded in some of my freedom as a teenager for bottles and diapers. Secrets

Can I let you in on a secret? On New Year's Day I bought a little notebook and each day since I've written in it. I'm hoping I have the guts to write unabashedly dear diary style. Then I'm hoping to use this record as notes for a book I've entitled Secrets of a Seminary Wife . I'm not talkin' secrets about how to get grass stains out of your little boys' jeans. I'm talking about a tell-all story about me--warts and all. It'll be like Tammy Faye Baker gets saved on Wisteria Lane. And maybe I will slip in some secrets on how to get grass stains out because, heck, we've gotta deal with that, too. Why? Because I wish the world knew what happens here. Here at seminary.
